J. R. Krishnamoorthy was awarded a Padma Shri in 2010 for his contribution in the field of medicine.
His lifetime contributions to the society as a medical practitioner in rural India (has been practicing in Kunrathur, 30 km off Chennai since early 1950s and still does so at the age of 81).
As a pioneer in motivating scientific spirit in the Siddha system of medicine for giving it a global recognition (through publishing several scientific papers, evolving many clinically effective formulations and steering many committees set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Health).
As an original formulator of a simple herbal drug (777 oil) for the treatment of a complex skin disorder like Psoriasis that had no solution in any system of medicine in the world.[1]
